Amazing Grace, the movie…

Last Sunday afternoon a small group from my home church went to see the movie, Amazing Grace. While a couple of the young people thought it was a bit “slow moving”, it was, in my estimation, utterly captivating. If you have not yet seen this movie based on the story of William Wilberforce, I highly recommend it.

For your convenience, I’m including a couple of links to sites that provide movie reviews from a Christian perspective.

Focus on the Family’s web site has this REVIEW.
You can read Crosswalk.com’s review by clicking HERE.

Has anyone else seen the movie? What did you think?

Blessings,
-bill

it’s not playing here let, but I want to see it!

I’m reading the book now , hope the movie is as good 😉

    did you change this again?

  2. Neva Cooper says:

We can hardly wait. Our town is small and rural (trashbags and black tarps are nailed to the wall of our theater) so we are praying that one comes here. We didn’t see Facing the Giants or the Nativity Story–they didn’t come our way. If it doesn’t come, we’ll have to rent it.
    Taking your recommendation to heart.
    Peace to you
    Still praying
    Neva

I’ve heard really good things about this movie, although one review I read said it was “slow.” We went to the movies last Sunday afternoon and saw “Zodiac” and it was a very good movie, although a bit long.

I guess it takes a while to tell a good story.

Thanks for the heads up. I want to see that movie.

    Dee

Thanks for the reviews on this movie. I have been reading William Wilberforce: A Hero for Humanity by Kevin Belmonte and Charles Colson that the move was based on and it is very good.

    Peace.

  5. Mark Wilson says:

I was looking forward to it, now I’m looking forward to it even more.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. P.S. I am glad to see the “oasis” is back. It gives the blog a more welcoming feel. 🙂

  7. Haven’t seen it yet. Been planning to for several weeks. (At this rate I may have to wait until it’s on DVD.)

  8. Keith Davis says:

Haven’t seen it or the previews, but I will check out the links you provided. God bless brother.

Thanks for the links Bill. This will be one of my “Spring Break movies.”

  10. Kathy says:

This will probably be one of the three movies [max] I see each year. I’m not that much of a movie goer, but love movies. This one and the queen are two Ive been wanting to see, for two distinct reasons, obviously, but they both fall under a category of “I’m a real nut for….” History.

    Thanks for the review, Bill!

  11. Mark says:

    I loved this movie!

  12. Maggie says:

We just say “Night with a King”. It embellishes the story quite a bit, but helps think about factors that could have come into play for Esther, and relational challenges she could have had. Captivating for me as well. I look forward to this one. Just bought my Dad, Facing the Giants as well…it was well done and the effort amazing (one church, their own church’s drama team, and one camera!)
