Mid-Ohio Valley Work Camp – Safe Arrival

After driving about 400 miles through some of the most beautiful scenery in the eastern United States, our van load of teenagers arrived safely to the campus of Ohio Valley University.

We have come all this way so that we might be part of what God is doing in the lives of more than 40 families in and around Parkersburg, West Virginia.

To be more specific, we are working with an effort called: Mid-Ohio Valley Work Camp. This is an effort coordinated by churches of Christ, involving the efforts of more than 500 workers. It is designed to provide assistance in the area of light household maintenance and up-keep to friends and neighbors of Christians living in communities in this area. My group of 15, 11 teenagers and 4 adults will be painting a house. Lord willing, I will tell you more about this as the week goes on.

One high-point this evening was meeting, live-and-in-person, one of our best friends here at the Spiritual Oasis. Cecil Walker of West Cocoa Chat and I had no trouble picking each other out of the crowd. I look forward to spending some time with Cecil and the group he is with during our evening activities and devotionals.

Keep an ear to the ground. I hope to have more news to report, along with a few pictures, in the days ahead.

Blessings to all,

You will find that meeting Cecil is truly a highlight. He is an awesome indivual and a wonderful shepherd for the Lord’s family. I commented on his blog that work camps were one of my favorite things in youth ministry. I wish you all well.
