Mid-Ohio Valley Work Camp – Monday

What a day! Well, that may be a bit premature. The day is not yet over. Still, what a day!!

We could not have had better weather. The morning was a bit cool, with light cloud cover. The afternoon warmed up nicely. Teams working at sites that required little scraping were able to begin painting today. Unfortunately, Site #29 did not wrap up our scraping until later in the day. It was too late to begin painting. Lord willing, we’ll start bright and early tomorrow.

Today’s Observations:

— Jesus, during His earthly ministry, really had a big heart for those who were hurting and in need. We discussed this earlier today in our devotional, which was based on Matthew 9:36-38. Needs are everywhere around us. W.W.J.D?

— Those who know us already agree that she is much sweeter and smarter than me. Now she can add one more feather in her cap: My wife is definitely tougher than me. For the past two years she has led our work camp team. She has said that it is hard work, but she never complained. I wish she had now. I’m plumb tuckered out. I’d like to whine for sympathy just a little. But, with her setting the bar so high, how can I?

— Teenagers are great! They are smarter and wiser than many of us older people give them credit. They are also ready, willing and able to make meaningful contributions to a host of kingdom concerns. As I watched the teenage workers at Site # 29 earlier today. I was both surprised and impressed at what a great job they were doing. Praise the Lord!

— What does “team” mean? Together Everyone Accomplishes More! I’ve heard that for years. It’s a blessing to see it fulfilled right before my eyes. The workers at our site come from West Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Ohio. A lot of different folks are being brought together by their commitment to Christ. What’s even more incredible is the ethnic diversity. Though we are many and varied, we are one in Christ! When the Lord sees members of His body working together like this, it’s just gotta bring a smile to His face!

Well, that’s it for Monday. I hope to be able to give you an update tomorrow.

Blessings to all,

It was good to finally meet you face to face and we’re looking forward to having your kids hang out with our kids at our devo tomorrow.

Brother Bill, I often wonder just what the church could do if we all pulled together all the time, we could rule this old world with the guidance of our leader. with the wealth God has given us we could have full time workers helping the needy with the church supporting the workers. Yes I know we do but it could be so much more. May God bless the work you all are doing.
