Warm Me With the Son

One of my best friends, who is also one of the most Christ-focused men I know, penned the following a few years ago. Looking at it from time-to-time, helps me to keep my heart in tune. Hope it will be a blessing to you, as well…

Warm Me With the Son

I don’t know when it started, where I was or what went wrong.
I don’t know why I chose this path to blindly walk upon,
Unsure of where I’m going, who I am and where You are.
In my sight You’re now so distant, far beyond the furthest star.

I know that You are not to blame; it’s me who walked away
And turned my back on Your outstretched arms, choosing my own way,
Ashamed of how I’ve left behind the One who loves me most,
And placed between us everything when You just want me close.

Father, show me where You are, that You’ve not moved, it’s me who strayed.
You’re just waiting now for me to come back home.
Lord, place Your face before my thoughts, and melt my heart of ice away.
Take my heart into Your hands, break through the cold, and warm me with the Son.

It’s cold here where I’ve wandered, where the day is black as night,
Where grief, regret and sorrow are the only friends in sight.
But through it all, Your love still shines and chases night away.
I just need to lift my eyes to You and seek again the Way.

As I turn and begin the walk anew that brings me to Your throne,
Lord, cleanse my heart, make straight my way, and gently lead me home.
Engrave forever in my mind the memory of what You’ve done
And the length to which You’ll always go to bring home a wayward son.

Father, show me where you are, that You’ve not moved, it’s me who strayed.
You’re just waiting now for me to come back home.
Lord, place Your face before my thoughts, and melt my heart of ice away.
Take my heart into Your hands, break through the cold, and warm me with the Son.

Powerful. God can seem so far away when he’s just waiting for us to open our eyes.

    Excellent point, Cecil.

    Excellent–should be a song. Interesting date to the composition . . .

I think you are right about the song idea. I think I’ll see if my son Matt can work something up. -bill

Jeff, It was just beautiful. It’s unreal how God uses the written word from another brothers or sisters heart to speak to someone Else’s heart. I have to share this at my bible study tomorrow night. Thank you so much. I’ve finally stopped crying. Thank You God!!
    With love in Christ,
    John
    Aloha!
